Data Retention Policy
Have your own counsel review before relying on it. This policy covers all personal information we process, including children's personal information (no separate children's retention policy is maintained because this policy adequately covers it).
Purpose
This policy states what personal information Math Generators collects, the purpose and business need for collecting it, and how long we keep it. We do not retain personal information indefinitely; each category has a defined deletion timeframe below, after which it is deleted from our active systems (residual copies in routine encrypted backups age out on our normal backup cycle).
What we keep, why, and for how long
| Information | Purpose / business need | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Account details (name, email, role, subscription) | Provide and bill the Service; authenticate the account holder | Life of the account; deleted on account closure or on request |
| Login & security data (masked IP /24 or /48, browser/device, login times) | Support internal operations only — authenticate sign-ins, secure the Service, and detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and credential misuse | 30 days, then automatically deleted |
| Classroom & assignment data (nicknames/codes, answers, scores, assignment content) | Let teachers create assignments and review results | Until the teacher deletes it or the account is closed; we ask that it never include a student's full name or other directly identifying details |
| Generated worksheets & usage counts | Re-serve a user's own worksheets (history) and enforce fair-use daily limits | History records and usage counts: life of the account. The downloadable PDF file is kept for your most recent 200 worksheets; for older ones the stored file is removed to save space — the worksheet stays in your history and can be re-generated at any time. All deleted on account closure or on request. |
Children's personal information
Math Generators is used by elementary and middle-school students under the direction of a parent, guardian, or teacher. The only children's personal information we process is the masked login/security data above and the non-identifying classroom data the supervising adult enters. We collect it solely to operate and secure the educational service (a permitted internal operation), retain it for the timeframes above, and never sell it or use it for advertising or profiling. Accounts are created and controlled by adults; a child does not create their own account or provide personal information to us directly. The responsible adult — a parent or guardian for their own child, or a teacher or school for its students — provides any consent required for the children in their care.
Deletion
Login/security data is purged automatically after 30 days by a scheduled job. Teachers can delete classrooms, assignments, and student records at any time from their dashboard. To request deletion of any data, contact us at the address below; we honor verified deletion requests promptly.
